There’s a simpler and healthier way boost your natural cleansing abilities: Simply add these “cleansing” ice cubes to your water or ice tea and rev up your health all day long.
What you need:
- 4 ounces of Jasmine Pearl green tea
- 4 ounces of Yerba Mate tea
- 2 inches of fresh ginger peeled and sliced thin
- ½ teaspoon crushed then chopped fresh mint
- ¼ teaspoon thinly sliced lemongrass
- Ice cube tray
- Liquid measuring cup
- Freezer safe, airtight container
How to make these cleansing cubes:
Pour hot purified (or spring) water over the green tea and the yerba mate tea. Allow to steep 4 minutes and 30 seconds. Discard tea bags or strain. Pour both teas into a liquid measuring cup for easy pouring. Carefully, pour the tea into the ice tray. Add slices of ginger, lemongrass, and chopped mint into each cube of the container. Allow to freeze completely.
Once frozen, remove the cubes and store in an airtight container. Transfer the container to your freezer. During the day, take out several ice cubes to give your water or ice tea some additional flavor.
Tips, Tricks And Substitutions
Make several trays of ice cubes at once or, if you have limited freezer space, go ahead and make more as soon as you transfer your ice to your container. This ensures that you have a small stock and never run out of your “cleansing” tea ice cubes.
If ginger is too spicy for you, add 1/8 teaspoon of turmeric powder instead and divide this up between the ice cube sections. Turmeric is commonly believed to reduce inflammation and help the liver, which could support your body’s cleansing ability.
