March is upon us! Time for warmer weather and greenery everywhere. From St. Patrick’s Day celebrations to the return of grass and flowers, March is sure to deliver it’s pop of Pantone’s color of the year. To make this March even greener (and more delicious), we’re sharing our favorite Matcha popsicle recipe. (And fun fact: March is also National Frozen Food Month! Popsicles count, right?)
We also love that this recipe is easy, delicious, and helps support the Gift of Life through our Matcha Matches program. We’re going to continue donating to Gift of Life through the end of the month, so every matcha purchase helps Gift of Life find marrow donors and fight blood cancers.
Simple Matcha Popsicles
Making matcha popsicles is fun and easy! To start, grab 1 teaspoon of Grade A Matcha, 4 ounces of cold water, 4 ounces of milk (or milk alternative), and 2 teaspoons of honey for optional sweetness. Begin like you would with a normal cup of matcha: Scoop and sift the matcha into a bowl or wide cup, add the water, and whisk until a froth appears and the matcha is fully suspended in the liquid. Next, add the milk and honey and stir until the contents are completely mixed. Pour this mixture into popsicle molds and freeze overnight. To remove your popsicles, run the molds under room temperature water and wiggle your popsicles free.
It’s not easy being green, and some people don’t love the bittersweet and grassy taste of Matcha. That’s okay! You can still enjoy your tea in popsicle-form. Teas like Hibiscus Cooler don’t even need added sugar to become delicious frozen treats. Pour freshly-brewed Hibiscus Cooler into popsicle molds and freeze overnight for vibrant, tropical pops with a perfect combination of sweet and tart.
For an even more decadent treat, try the rich and creamy White Coconut Creme pops. Made with White Coconut Creme tea and real coconut creme, these popsicles are hard to resist. They’re dairy-free, vegan, and healthier than a classic creamsicle. No matter what, if you swap out sugar-laden artificial “fruit” pops for flavorful tea popsicles, you’re sure to have a delicious and nutritious treat.
With the 4th of July right around the corner, many of you are gearing up to host a big BBQ bash. We wanted to make your planning that much simpler by giving you handy iced tea and BBQ food pairing options. These pairings will help compliment the flavors of your favorite summer food. Happy Fourth!
Keeping it Healthy
If you’re tossing up a few salad options we suggest brewing some Summer Peach Iced Tea. Art of Tea’s Summer Peach Iced Tea is a sweet, fruity cup with a rich traditional black tea flavor, making it the perfect drink to celebrate the Fourth of July. The subtle fruit flavors and the bold black tea base help add more fruitiness and depth to an otherwise ‘green’ meal. The natural sweetness of Summer Peach is similar to that of sweet tea but does not get in the way of your healthy goals.
Classic Grilled Favorites
Sticking to the classics and grilling up some hot dogs and hamburgers? Pair our Meyer Lemon or Green Pomegranate Iced Tea for a refreshing sip after each bite. Art of Tea’s Meyer Lemon Iced Tea has bright citrus flavors of real Meyer lemons, complemented by the characteristic grassiness of ultra-premium green teas. The acidity from both teas cuts through the fattiness of these delicious grilled foods.
Branching out a little and preparing some BBQ chicken? Brew some of our Classic Black Iced Tea to enjoy.
